OnePush for Mobile TV

CYBIRD announced that it will demonstrate its interactive communication technology that allows users to receive detailed information on digital TV programs and commercials on their mobile phones via infrared connection, at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) 2004 to be held in Amsterdam beginning September 10. Jointly developed by CYBIRD, IMAGICA, and IMAGICA DC21, the OnePush technology enables people to use a mobile phone to access information aired on a TV program or commercial by receiving the URL of the information on the handset that functions as a TV remote.

CEATEC JAPAN 2004: Ushering in the Ubiquitous Society

CEATEC JAPAN 2004 was officially launched at a press conference held in Tokyo, attended by some 130 members of the press. Shigeru Ikeda, president of the Communications and Information network Association of Japan (CIAJ), opened the conference with a greeting on behalf of the three sponsoring organizations. Jiro Iriye, director of the CEATEC JAPAN Management Office, then provided an overview of this year’s exhibition, which is rapidly becoming a major international event. CEATEC JAPAN 2004 will be held in the 5-day period from October 5 to October 9. The theme of this year’s event is “Ubiquitous Society–Digitally Enriched, Accelerating to the Next Stage.”

We also highlight NTT DoCoMo’s N900iL dual-mode 802.11b/W-CDMA handset based on the FOMA N900i which, unfortunately, has been transformed into the de facto proprietary, intranet-only “Passage Duple” WLAN phone by NEC and DoCoMo. While future versions may run on the consumer-targeted M-Stage platform, for now this first baby step into the dual-mode 3G/Wi-Fi world is aimed exclusively at corporate-controlled walled gardens.
