GeoVector and NEC Team Up
GeoVector has announced a partnership with NEC to enable Japanese mobile content providers to offer information for end users to simply point their mobile phones at a building, retailer, restaurant, hotel or billboard advertisement. Just like using a mouse to click on your computer screen to retrieve information, now mobile phone users in Japan can Click on the Real World using their mobile phone, aided by GPS and a built-in compass. GeoVector’s technology makes a variety of innovative content-based applications and M-commerce transactions possible.
NEC will implement the Japanese version of GeoVector’s GVid spatial search engine platform, as well as market GeoVector’s enabling service to Japanese content providers. Through its partnership with NEC, GeoVector offers service and support to both enterprise and consumer mobile phone application providers. GeoVector’s patented technology can now serve any Japanese company who provides location-related content such as real estate or security applications, entertainment and shopping guides, advertising, maps and games.
The first results of this partnership came in January, when GeoVector announced that its technology will enable Japan’s Mapion Local Search. Together with NEC, GeoVector enables Mapion users to walk down virtually any Japanese street, point their mobile phone at over 700,000 buildings, merchants or historical sites, to instantly retrieve information on what they are looking at, or find what they are looking for.
