DoCoMo Sets Daily E-mail Limit

DoCoMo and its eight regional subsidiaries announced today that the companies will limit the number of e-mail i-mode(R) users can send to 1,000 messages per day, beginning October 20, 2003. The move is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to counter the growing amount of spam mail being sent via the i-mode network.

DoCoMo has been taking various other steps to eliminate spam mail. Recently, the company began suspending or rescinding spammers’ subscriptions for all registered handsets in response to the increasing number of spam mail individual subscribers receive from mobile phones. As of August 19, DoCoMo had suspended contracts with 602 subscribers that the company identified as spammers. Continue >>
