QUALCOMM Showcases BREW‚ Solution for WCDMA Market at 3G World Congress

QUALCOMM Incorporated, pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology, today announced that a number of compelling BREW-based wireless applications currently available via operators with CDMA2000® 1X services, can now be downloaded live and run on the BenQ S80 WCDMA (UMTS)/GSM/GPRS dual mode handset. The applications are being downloaded live over a WCDMA network, and shown on this BREW-enabled WCDMA device to operators throughout the Asia-Pacific region, at 3G World Congress, November 15-19 in Hong Kong. This functionality validates the BREW solution’s flexibility and value for the entire mobile marketplace value chain, including publishers and developers, handset manufacturers and operators in the emerging WCDMA market. The compelling selection of applications are running on handsets built upon QUALCOMM’s MSM6250™ Mobile Station Modem™ (MSM™) chipset providing developers with a feature-rich, multimedia environment for their innovative content.

QUALCOMM Expands Product Portfolio With New WCDMA 3G Solutions

QUALCOMM Incorporated, pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology, today announced the Mobile Station Modem(TM) (MSM(TM)) MSM6255(TM) chipset and system software to enable cost-effective WCDMA (UMTS) and GSM/GPRS/EDGE solutions. QUALCOMM has extended the success of the commercially available MSM6250(TM) chipset to deliver the MSM6255 chipset, a highly integrated multimedia solution for WCDMA and GSM/GPRS/EDGE networks worldwide.

Siemens to Bring the First HSDPA Solution to Market

Siemens Communications will be the first vendor to bring an end-to-end solution for “High Speed Downlink Packet Access” (HSDPA) to market, complete with PC card. This UMTS extension will enable operators to significantly boost data rates in UMTS networks and provide their subscribers with average download speeds of up to 2 to 3 megabits per second. That roughly corresponds to what the fastest DSL connections are currently capable of offering. In January 2005, Siemens will be conducting the first live demonstrations with a HSDPA network.

Ulead Systems announces Video ToolBox 2, the first PC video converter for editing and sharing video taken on 3G-enabled mobile phones. Video ToolBox lets users import video from mobile phones, edit video clips by trimming, adding music and transitions, and outputting to a variety of video formats for playback on the Web, CD/DVD and on 3G mobile phones.
