NTT DoCoMo to Launch FOMA F2102V Videophone

NTT DoCoMo, Inc. today announced marketing of the F2102V mobile videophone, the first model compatible with DoCoMo’s new FirstPass™ SSL client authentication service, beginning July 3. The model also features videophone, enhanced audio quality and the longest continuous stand-by time of any FOMA handset. F2102V compatible with FirstPass, ensures enhanced network security for mobile payments and other e-commerce transactions over the FOMA network.

Epson Develops Industry's First Processor for Camera-Phones

Seiko Epson Corporation has recently developed the S1C33L11, a 32-bit RISC-based processor that incorporates image processing functionality (a “mobile graphics engine”) and is intended for camera-equipped mobile phones. The new chip not only offers JPEG processing speeds that are 15 times faster than earlier products*, it also consumes 80% less power and occupies 60% less board real estate. This product reduces the number of discrete LSI chips needed on a camera-equipped mobile device. It also lightens the load on the base-band engine and reduces product size, weight, power consumption, and cost. Epson also developed the S1C33301, a version of the RISC chip that does not contain the mobile graphics engine.

Microsoft refreshes Pocket PC software

A new Connection Manager allows devices with 802.11b WLAN hardware to detect WLANs that usea a device from (JVC) Japan. Already gaining momentum over chief rival PalmSource, Microsoft is set to announce a new version of its software for PDAs (personal digital assistants) on Monday that is poised to make Pocket PCs more attractive to users.

NTT DoCoMo Unveils New 3G FOMA Videophones

NTT DoCoMo, Inc. today unveiled the specifications of its third-generation (3G) F2102V and N2102V clamshell-type videophone handsets and F2402, the FOMA lineup’s first PC card-type terminal equipped for PC-based videophone. The F2102V and N2102V enable client authentication for enhanced network security when making mobile payments and other e-commerce transactions over the FOMA network.

NTT DoCoMo Camera Phone Offers World's Highest Resolution

NTT DoCoMo, Inc. and its eight regional subsidiaries announced today that on June 4, 2003 they will begin marketing the SO505i, the world’s first camera phone equipped with a 1.3-megapixel (effective resolution) CCD camera. This is the second model in the new 505i series of enhanced-2G handsets. Equipped with a Flash browser, 505i series handsets can access a broad range of rich content and applications with highly fluid animation.
