Locked & Loaded for #MWC in BCN at Fira from 12-18th we’ll be in the Press Room & many of the mixer events. Look forward to meet there soon!
So, here we go again for the annual MWC adventure in Barcelona. Looking back over the last few trips there, with our video reports from 2009 and our Mob Rulz e’Zine material last year, it’s always a great opportunity to connect with the global industry and so many contacts all together in one place.
Several quick thoughts while en-route and gearing up come to mind, starting with ‘will this be the last time in Barcelona’ as GSMA is due to announce their next 5-year agreement with host the official city. As the so-called Mobile World Capital competition has omitted the obvious actual location – Tokyo – all eyes are on the final short-list of EU candidates.
Certainly we will see plenty of action in Hall 7 where all the App Planet activities are set to take place again this year, including the debut of Mac World Mobile, and guess there will be plenty of Buzz around presentation from Erich Schmidt from Google who set the tone with his “Mobile First” speech in 2010.
Otherwise, the hotspots (ha!) will naturally include LTE, NFC and 3D displays along with the ever increasing APP-APP-APP drumbeat. We are looking forward to so many meetings and the usual evening networking gigs to get a better feel on where people are really at for near term plans and pick-up on the ever present weak signals of this fast paced industry.
Meanwhile, we will post updates here – and via Twitter – as possible over the next 10-days or so. Trust we will be poking around the show to get a feel for what the domestic players have on offer for global visitors and will compile a wrap report upon return to Tokyo 3rd week of Feb. Meanwhile, friends & family know they can find us in/out of the press room at Fira during the day and attending many of these evening mixers.. Hola!
