DeNA’s SNS for seniors shows impressive traction
Everybody knows about DeNA’s Mobage Town – one of the three biggest social networks in Japan. However, you’ve probably never heard about Shumi-to-Kurabu (SMCB). Honestly, I haven’t until I came across this tweet some time ago. It looks like SMCB is a full-scale social network targeted at particularly distinct and lucrative segment – senior users. The average user of SMCB is reported to be 54.3 year old with 43% holding a financial portfolio of over $100K and 34% owning over $350K in real estate assets. What impressive is the fact that the site has some real traction with 94 million of monthly page views and 210K registered users. Based on users’ interests and hobbies, there are about 24 offline meetups happening every day through activity on SMCB site. Indeed, a smart move by DeNA in an ageing society.
