Qualcomm Faces Fair-Trade Issue in Japan
Japan’s anti-trust regulator has ordered Qualcomm to remove what it claims are unfair clauses in its licensing agreements with domestic handset makers.
According to this report on Reuters, Japan’s Fair Trade Commission said that it demanded that the wireless chip and technology developer remove clauses that grant Qualcomm free access to patents held by manufacturers, who it said have little choice but to use Qualcomm chips.
