Japan iTunes Launch 'Untrue'?
Yesterday, Impress’ Internet Watch carried a brief report casting doubt on the launch of iTunes in Japan anytime soon. The report quoted an Apple Japan PR spokesperson to the effect that Monday’s Nikkei story — that Apple would launch its iTunes Music Store service in August — was untrue.
The Nikkei story said that ITMS Japan would launch after online distribution deals were reached between Apple Japan and a number of Japanese record labels, specifically Avex and Toshiba-EMI.
But Internet Watch’s latest update cites the PR spokesperson as stating that the story is “completely untrue.” It appears that Toshiba EMI has still to make a final decision to support the deal.
