NEC Launches New Product Family UNIVERGE: Includes Mobile IP System

NEC Corporation today announced the launch of a new product family, UNIVERGE, which consists of key components of its IT/Network integrated solutions. NEC will continue to develop the highly value-added UNIVERGE family of products by incorporating its proven advanced technologies related to computing and networking. First products of the UNIVERGE family include mobile IP system, VoIP server, high-speed access router, wireless LAN, multi-layer switch and new generation telephony server. NEC intends to enhance UNIVERGE product lineups and to flexibly and nimbly respond to users’ needs. The UNIVERGE family will be launched globally, including North America and Asia Pacific.

Hitachi launches GPS/WLAN AirLocation

Lost your forklift in your cluttered factory? Hitachi Ltd. and Hitachi Cable Ltd have announced they are launching the IEEE802.11b-WLAN/ GPS Hitachi AirLocation system that can locate it. With an accuracy of 1-3 meters, the system works with twin servers and five dedicated basestations to find whatever, for a cost of 5 million yen for the system.

Enfour Announces Launch of GlobalNavi 3G Mobile Data Service

Today Enfour Group announced launch date for GlobalNavi – their new roaming content on Vodafone Global Standard (VGS) – Vodafone K.K.’s 3GPP-based, high-speed W-CDMA network. This new mobile service, called GlobalNavi, aggregates a full suite of data and voice services catering for the needs of international travellers in their native language. This service takes full advantage of the first truely global data roaming service provided by VGS.

Vodafone Announces New V801SA by Sanyo 3G Handset

Vodafone K.K. Tokyo, announced today that on December 1 it will commence nationwide sales of the V801SA by Sanyo, a new 3G handset compatible with Vodafone Global Standard (VGS) for use not only in Japan but abroad as well. With the launch of the V801SA, Vodafone K.K. will simultaneously offer new Vodafone live! mobile internet services exclusively for VGS. Philips Introduces New Bluetooth Solution

Philips Electronics launched a plug-and-play Bluetooth solution in a single chip package for applications such as mobile phones, headsets, car kits, and PDAs. The new Bluetooth solution, the BGB202 system-in-package (SiP), is said to be a breakthrough for designers of mobile devices through the integration of multiple technologies into one package, reducing the complete Bluetooth solution footprint to 56 sq mm. The BGB202 integrates everything needed for Bluetooth wireless technology functionality in one ultra-small format.

DoCoMo to Introduce P505iS: World's First Auto-Focus Camera Phone

NTT DoCoMo, Inc. and its eight regional subsidiaries today announced the release of the mova P505iS, the world’s first camera phone equipped with auto focus, on November 12, 2003. The P505iS is the second handset model released in the new 505iS series, a series of five PDC (2G) i-mode-capable mobile phones featuring mega-pixel cameras. The model’s 1.28 mega-pixel CCD camera is equipped with auto-focus for sharp, clear photos.
