For-side.com Invests in iTouch

For-side.com U.K., a wholly owned subsidiary of For-side.com of Japan, announced August 9 that it will invest 8 million Euros ($9.8mil) in London-based leading content provider iTouch in mid-August in order to further accelerate its business globalization effort. For-side.com U.K. will own a 4.5% stake in iTouch. With For-side.com’s financial support, the UK partner plans to acquire Jippii, the leading content provider that mainly operates in Russia, to expand its service offerings in Europe.

QUALCOMM, pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology; IDG Technology Venture, a US venture fund focusing on the information technology industry in China and TOMOnline, a leading mobile Internet company in China, today announced the successful closing of a US$3.5 million investment in Sichuan Great Wall Software Group.

Toshiba Corp. today confirmed its continued innovation and leadership in the fast growing market for 1.8-inch hard-disk drives with the announcement of two new drives. The 60GB “MK6006GAH” achieves the highest capacity yet achieved in this increasingly important HDD format, while the 30GB “MK3006GAL” slims down drive thickness to only 5mm.

3G Spending to Double in 2004

In 2004, global spending on 3G infrastructure equipment will rise to $8.8 billion, doubling the $4.4 billion spent in 2003, according to a report by market research firm iSuppli. The firm noted that as of June, 30 commercial WCDMA 3G networks and 12 commercial CDMA2000 1xEV-DO 3G networks were operating in Europe, Japan, South Korea, the United States, and South America. This will help boost overall global capital expenditures for wireless infrastructure to $29.9 billion in 2004, up 15.4 percent from $25.9 billion in 2003.

Index to Acquire 123 Multimedia

Index has announced that it has reached an agreement with 123 Multimedia of France to acquire 66.65% of 123MM’s outstanding shares. As Europe’s largest mobile content provider, 123MM provides various mobile Internet services based on i-mode, WAP, and Java, as well as mobile content using premium SSM, MMS, and SMS services. The French company’s content delivery network covers France, Germany, Portugal, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Belgium, Morocco, the Netherlands, and Thailand.
