Nokia Signs G-mode for SNAP Mobile

Nokia and G-mode announced at the Tokyo Game Show that they are collaborating to bring more mobile multiplayer games to the global market. G-mode is developing Chess a Moment, an online and turn-based chess game, based on the Nokia SNAP Mobile platform. Players can compete in up to eight live games simultaneously, and have up to 30 hours to ponder their next move. Nokia plans to distribute Chess a Moment on select Nokia handsets, and make the game available for global operator-assisted download, consumers can expect to get their hands on G-mode’s Chess a Moment in the fourth quarter of 2007.

Visto Joins Forces with IBM Lotus Domino

Visto has announced a new effort with IBM that will leverage Lotus Notes Traveler and help enable delivery of Visto’s Mobile for IBM Lotus Domino to millions of IBM Lotus Notes users. Under the terms of the agreement, the companies will collaborate on the enablement and marketing of a connector for Visto Mobile for Lotus Domino, providing customers with access to email, calendar appointments, contacts and other data pushed directly to their mobile phones.

LifeWatcher Gets Red Herring 100 Asia Award

Red Herring Magazine awarded Mobile Healthcare Inc., a Japan-based global healthcare solutions provider offering real-time mobile solutions in the areas of chronic and lifestyle disease management, the Red Herring 100 Asia 2007 Award. Winners were selected from a pool of more than 500 applicants and nominations based in 16 countries including China, India, Japan, Singapore, Korea, Australia and Vietnam.

Sharp Develops Multi-Touch LCD

Sharp Corporation has announced a new proprietary “System LCD” equipped with touch screen and scanner functions. The company claims to have successfully embedded an optical sensor, used in devices like scanners, in each pixel of the LCD panel. This technology eliminates the need for films, resulting in a thin clear screen display compared to conventional touch screens. Sample shipments will begin in September of this year, with volume production slated to start next spring.

Targeted Ads Planned for AU-One

KDDI will analyze the browsing activity of their “au one” customers from this autumn and introduce targeted advertisements that match the history preference of the individual. Mediba and and DAC (digital advertising consortium) will jointly develop this technique and according to this press release it’s introduction into mobility will be the first in Japan.

SKiP Check-in with Just One Touch

ANA will roll-out its new SKiP service, across all 50 airports in Japan to which ANA flies, from September 4 this year. Passengers who wish to SKiP, chose their seat after booking and paying for their ticket, in advance of going to the airport. Thanks to mobile internet technology, seats can even be chosen or changed on the way to the airport. On arrival, they bypass check-in and simply touch one of the following to a reader at security, and then again at their boarding gate: an IC-chip equipped ANA credit card or mileage club card, IC-enabled mobile phone, or printed 2D barcode.
