Huawei to Exhibit at Wireless Japan
Tech-On has posted an interview with Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd., China’s leading telecom equipment manufacturer, who have set up an exhibit – for the first time ever in Japan – at this years Wireless Japan tradeshow. Huawei is one of the most technology-oriented companies in China with sales at an annual growth rate of 40% that are expected to surpass 1 trillion yen in 2007.
Nikkei Electronics: Tell us about Huawei’s future strategy for the Japanese market.
Yan: Japan is the region in which 3G business was established ahead of any other region across the world. Japanese 3G infrastructures, however, have one weakness. That is the poor indoor connection in urban areas due to the buildings, which tend to be more dense than in the United States and Europe.
Huawei commercialized a W-CDMA-based IDBS (indoor distributed base station), ahead of other industry peers, for telecom carriers in search of better indoor access environments. By manufacturing the base station’s core LSI in house, we succeeded in shortening time required for the development.
In Japan, the company supplies HSDPA network base stations and servers to eMobile Ltd. as well as WiMAX base stations to other carriers in Japan in collaboration with Oki Electric Industry Co. Ltd.
