Napster Mobile Launches on i-mode

Napster has announced the launch of Napster Mobile on iMode. DoCoMo is now promoting Napster Mobile, with over-the-air full length songs and ringtones and the Napster To Go PC-to-handset sideloading capabilities through a multi-million dollar integrated marketing campaign comprised of TV, outdoor, print, in-box, online and on-deck promotion. The campaign also includes today’s platform-wide takeover of iMode by Napster. DoCoMo customers can use Napster Mobile to access full-length songs and ringtones that can be delivered over-the-air (OTA), directly to their mobile handset for immediate listening and downloading.

i-mode customers can subscribe to Napster Mobile to enjoy unlimited access to Napster Mobile’s comprehensive music programming features, including personalized recommendations, featured artists and new releases, exclusive music and chart information, and to browse Napster Mobile’s vast catalog of full-length songs and ringtones. Napster Mobile subscribers in Japan pay a monthly access fee of approximately $3 per month, and can acquire individual songs and ringtones for mobile delivery and download using a “credit-based” system. Subscribers receive 300 credits per month to procure individual songs and ringtones, and they can purchase additional credits at any time.

Full-length songs from Napster Mobile can be delivered over-the-air and downloaded to a variety of different DoCoMo handsets, including the N902iX, the SH903i, the F903i, the D903i and other soon to be released models in the 903i series. Considering both the Napster Japan PC-based service and Napster Mobile, there are currently over 14 models of DoCoMo mobile handsets that boast compatibility with Napster, with such compatibility to be standard in future consumer handsets from DoCoMo.
