3G Phones Attract Attention at CeBIT
NEC set up a large booth of 200 square meters that is closest to the entrance and exhibited only mobile phones. The demonstration of 3G mobile phones attracted attention from visitors. The company exhibited two models supporting both W-CDMA and GSM that it markets in foreign countries, including Great Britain and Australia.
Model “e808” is a hybrid product made up of a mobile phone and PDA. It has a 2x zoom lens on both sides of the body, and can take both moving pictures and still pictures. With a maximum transmission speed of 384kbps, it allows moving pictures, still pictures, music pieces, and Java applications. Many visitors rushed to see this model and try its usability, which showed how serious they are about it. NEC Corp exhibited the “N810,” the latest GSM/GPRS-supported model, as a 2.5-generation (2.5G) model.
