Wizcorp’s magical Mithril engine garners GREE investment
Web technology company Wizcorp has become a strategic partner of GREE, Inc. As part of its global expansion plan, GREE has invested in the Tokyo-based startup and may utilize Mithril, Wizcorp’s HTML5 game development engine, for a number of future releases in the US and other international markets.
Mithril, named after the fictional metal in Tolkien’s fantasy writings, is the flagship technology developed by Wizcorp. Based on the latest communication, data storage and code execution, it allows publishers to spend less money on servers, and more on marketing their game. Besides being blazing fast, Mithril also leverages Node.js to give superb scalability, with no extra effort required by developers.
Established in 2008, Wizcorp started life as a web consultancy business but is now focused on game development. The company’s founder and CEO, Guillaume Hansali, said, “We are delighted about the partnership with GREE. Their endorsement of Mithril reinforces our belief in developing the best new technologies and reaffirms our goal of becoming the de facto standard-bearers for excellence in social game development.”
