NTT DOCOMO Subscribers Top 60 Million
DoCoMo announced today that the company’s mobile subscribers surpassed 60 million on March 11. The figure includes customers who subscribe to DOCOMO’s LTE, 3G and 2G mobile services.
DOCOMO has continued to add subscribers by expanding its lineup of smartphones and tablet devices in this fast-growing segment of the mobile market. Also, the company has stimulated demand for second devices by introducing new data communication devices, mobile Wi-Fi® routers for the Xi® (read “crossy”) LTE network, and Otayori Photo Panel wireless photo frames.
Milestones in the growth of DOCOMO’s subscriber base are as follows:
December 1979: Launch
February 1993: 1 million
February 1997: 10 million
August 1998: 20 million
April 2000: 30 million
January 2002: 40 million
November 2005: 50 million
March 2012: 60 million
