DeNA and SINA to Form Partnership in China

TOKYO, JAPAN and SHANGHAI, CHINA – Mar. 12, 2012 – DeNA Co., Ltd., Japan’s leading social gaming platform operator, and SINA Corporation, the operator of Weibo.com, China’s largest microblogging platform, have entered into an agreement that will make DeNA Group’s Chinese-language Mobage social gaming platform (Mobage China) even more accessible to Weibo.com’s 300 million users.

As part of the partnership, DeNA and SINA plan to create a special Mobage website under a SINA domain in April, where Weibo.com users can download Mobage China gaming apps to their Android-based smartphones. The companies will also add the Mobage icon inside the Weibo.com Android app, which immediately brings Weibo.com users to the special website. In addition, DeNA and SINA will link Mobage China and Weibo.com accounts, allowing Weibo.com users who downloaded Mobage China apps from the website to log into Mobage China with their existing Weibo.com IDs and passwords.

SINA’s Weibo.com is China’s largest microblogging platform with over 300 million registered users. About 50% of Weibo.com users access the service from mobile devices and the Weibo.com mobile app has been downloaded 40 million times to date. By partnering with DeNA, SINA expects to provide Weibo.com users in China with free access to high-quality mobile social games from around the world and the vibrant Mobage community of players.

DeNA Group launched Mobage China for Android in July, 2011 and iOS in November, 2011, and 30 titles are currently available on the platform. Through the alliance with SINA, DeNA aims to acquire new Mobage China users and increase business opportunities in China for game developers worldwide.
