KDDI to Offer Mobile Insurance Plans
KDDI is planning to roll out the “au Femtocell” – a miniature base station to be used indoors by summer 2010, and will commence trial operations in locations throughout the Kanto region beginning March 2010. “au Femtocell” is a miniature base station that creates a small mobile coverage area of a radius of approximately 10 meters; the service will be offered to the consumer market.
By newly adding the au femtocell to the au repeater which enhances and retransmits external signals indoors, we will enable improvements in coverage areas meet customer environments. The current trials will be performed to those customers (note) who have already concluded a contract to use both au Mobile and au Optical (Home, Mansion, Mansion 2G), for which we will install au femtocell, and verify the formation of stable coverage and mobile functions, and pursue the provision of seamless service.
