  • Ulead’s Video ToolBox Designed for Sharing Video from Mobile Phones

Ulead Systems announces Video ToolBox 2, the first PC video converter for editing and sharing video taken on 3G-enabled mobile phones. Video ToolBox lets users import video from mobile phones, edit video clips by trimming, adding music and transitions, and outputting to a variety of video formats for playback on the Web, CD/DVD and on 3G mobile phones.

Video ToolBox 2 is the ideal companion application for OEM vendors, particularly 3G -enabled mobile phone, MPEG-4 Player, digital still camera and capture card makers that want to offer their customers a complete, cutting-edge solution to easily enhance and share video taken on mobile devices.

The 3G video file that is used by mobile devices to capture video is a highly compressed format which is based on the MPEG-4 codec. The 3G format lets users record and edit up to one hour of high-quality video. As more mobile devices become 3G enabled, a growing number of users will need a way to share these video clips. With Video ToolBox, Ulead is poised to meet this imminent need with simple-to-use video conversion that makes it easy to share video from and on mobile devices.

The Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS), a forum that promotes 3G usage worldwide, predicts that revenue for the 3G mobile phone market will reach USD 1 billion from 2001 to 2010. IDC Japan also predicts that 3G mobile phone users will grow to an expected 69 million users in Japan by 2007, generating total revenue of 6 trillion Yen approximately USD 55 billion.

“We were first to market in Asia and Europe with our image editing software for mobile phones,” says Juliet Kuo, associate vice president of Ulead’s Video Product Center. “We’re now proud to be ahead of the curve again in giving users a way to share their 3G video files using the PC. Not only does Video ToolBox make converting video files a simple process, but it gives hardware makers a complementary choice using the latest technology for market their products.”
