Toshiba 2010 Results = Back in Black

The smartphone component market has helped lift annual results with profit up over 90% as reported by Toshiba FYE 2010: http://bit.ly/jahglw

Toshiba Corp said Monday it returned to the black in fiscal 2010, booking a group net profit of 137.85 billion yen against a loss of 19.74 billion yen in the previous year on brisk sales of electronic devices. In the year that ended in March, its consolidated operating profit surged 91.8% to 240.27 billion yen on group sales of 6.40 trillion yen, up 1.7%.

The Japanese electronics company said its sales of memory chips and liquid crystal display panels increased, backed by expanding demand for mobile devices such as smartphones. But its social infrastructure business remained almost flat due partly to effects of the devastating March 11 earthquake and tsunami, Toshiba said.

For the current fiscal year ending March next year, the company said it expects to see a group net profit of 140 billion yen and operating profit of 300 billion yen on sales of 7 trillion yen. Via: JapanToday.
