DoCoMo has announced that beginning December 1st it will reduce the monthly maximum charge for wireless data charged by tethering a handset with PC or other device under their Pake-hodai double flat-rate data service to 5,985 yen, down from 13,650 yen (from approx. $150 to $65), via selected Internet access points.
The revision is for users of DoCoMo phone-tethered external devices such as PCs and handheld gaming consoles at access speeds of up to 128 Kbps (uplinks of 64 Kbps). Other monthly maximum charges for Pake-hodai double will remain unchanged.
The reduced charge will enable users to enjoy carefree use of Pake-hodai double not only for using i-mode and i-mode Full Browser, but also for extended online gaming on handheld consoles via mobile phones with Wi-Fi access point capability and exchanging brief PC e-mails via mobile phones tethered with USB cable, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
On December 1, the DoCoMo website will announce the connection method including specific access point configurations where the service will be available.
