  • New DoCoMo U.S. Advisory Board

DoCoMo announced that it has established its fifth U.S. Advisory Board and will convene the first meeting in the United States on April 8. The board will be chaired by former FCC Chairman Michael K. Powell, currently chairman of the MK Powell Group and a senior advisor to Providence Equity Capital, who also chaired the previous board. He will be joined by 2001 Nobel Laureate in Economics Dr. Joseph E. Stiglitz, currently a professor at Columbia University.

DOCOMO will invite one or two special guests to each meeting, beginning with Ambassador David A. Gross, Partner of Wiley Rein LLP and former U.S. Coordinator for International Communications and Information Policy with the United States Department of State. The two-year board will meet with DOCOMO representatives twice each year in the United States.

DOCOMO’s U.S. Advisory Board provides insight into global society and economics related to the company’s management, corporate citizenship and provision of high-quality mobile services. The first board was established in December 2000 and the fourth board lasted from April 2007 to November 2008.

DoCoMo has a decent display of handsets and service offerings on show at the CTIA event in Vegas this week - no fooling - as well, it’s a sign 8-)
