KDDI Deploys InnoPath's Mobile Device Software Management Solution

InnoPath Software (formerly DoOnGo Technologies), today announced that KDDI Corp., a leading wireless operator in Japan, has deployed InnoPath’s DeltaUpgrade Plus end-to-end solution to provide seamless OTA delivery of advanced services for KDDI handset users. The service was launched initially with handset model W31T and W32SA, and will be expanded to other new handset models. With KDDI’s rollout, three major wireless operators in the United States and Japan have now commercialised InnoPath’s solution on live wireless networks, managing over 50 million devices with an additional 2.5 million added every month. InnoPath is the only end-to-end OTA device management company actively updating handset software in commercial deployments.

“InnoPath’s reputation and leadership in the industry makes them the clear partner to securely deliver over-the-air solutions to our sophisticated client base.” said Mr. Kimihiko Nakamura, general manager, Mobile Terminal Development Department, Service & Product Planning Division of KDDI Corporation. “With DeltaUpgrade Plus we can now provide fast, seamless software updates and upgrades within several minutes, while offering our customers increased choice, control and convenience for their mobile phone experience.”

InnoPath’s patented and proven technology performs updates of firmware faster and more reliably than other methods. DeltaUpgrade Plus now enables KDDI to build upon its unmatched customer service to its 20 million mobile phone subscribers by dramatically reducing the time it takes for customers to deploy firmware updates in a modular and flexible architecture. With the ability to provide instant, seamless updates to their handset users, KDDI can also increase customer satisfaction and loyalty.

In addition, InnoPath is working to develop and deploy future enhancements, including remote diagnostics and feature upgrades such as user interface customisation and anti-virus software downloads. These strategic applications will drive significant business value, enabling wireless operators to quickly identify and resolve customer issues, improve the mobile phone user experience, and increase revenues.

“We are pleased KDDI chose our reliable, secure, and 100% fault-tolerant end-to-end OTA device management solution, which allows both user initiated and server pushed automatic updates,” said Dr. Luosheng Peng, CEO, chairman and co-founder of InnoPath Software. “By meeting KDDI?fs strict functional, operational, performance, and quality requirements, this successful commercial launch of DeltaUpgrade Plus means InnoPath is further extending its leadership in the global OTA mobile device management market.”

Leading operators and handset manufacturers have selected InnoPath?fs OTA technology as the preferred carrier-grade mobile device management solution. InnoPath is the first OTA device management company to actively update handset firmware in commercial deployments, and has helped to bring the first commercialised OTA-capable mobile phones to market. Today, millions of handsets have already been updated in the hands of subscribers with update-ready technology provided by InnoPath. With InnoPath?fs proven OTA solution, operators and handset manufacturers reduce risk, accelerate time to market for new products and services, increase customer satisfaction and retention, lower operating costs, and increase revenue — offering a clear service differentiation.
