Vodafone KK is hoping to appeal to a wider range of companies with changes to its Vodafone Mobile Office price plan. The company plans to reduce monthly basic charges for business customers from 1 June. Under the current scheme, customers form an on-net group of 20 lines or more under the same company account.

Different Mobile Office plans have different allowed free calling times; all the time (“Alltime” plan) or only between 8:00-19:00 (“Daytime” plan). Both are nationwide between on-net group Vodafone Japan 3G handsets and only cost a monthly basic charge.

With the new system, Vodafone Mobile Office Alltime monthly basic charges will be reduced by around 41 percent to 5,200 yen (5,460 yen including tax) and the plan’s name will change to “Vodafone Mobile Office.”

To boost scalability, the minimum number of lines that can be set as an on-net group will be reduced to 10. This should make the plan more appealing to smaller companies. The old Daytime price plan will be discontinued completely.

First introduced in July 2004, the price plan appeals to businesses seeking to economize on bringing employees into a company mobile network since Mobile Office does away with subscription handling charges and equipment outlays such as PBX installation, according to the company.
