QUALCOMM today announced the open call for submissions for the BREW® 2005 Developer Awards. BREW publishers and developers are encouraged to submit their top BREW applications by completing an online entry form and providing a demo of their application. The deadline for online nominations is March 11 and submission materials must be received by March 28. Finalists will be announced on the BREW 2005 Awards Web site on May 9, then winners will be revealed at the awards ceremony hosted during the BREW 2005 Conference, June 1-3, in San Diego. QUALCOMM has expanded the categories for the 2005 awards program to reflect the diversity of BREW applications available or on the horizon. New categories include:

* Best Ringtone Application: Nominees are BREW applications that allow consumers to personalize their mobile phone ringers.

* Most Innovative Use of Technology: Nominees are pre-commercial applications that exhibit a creative, unique and practical use of one or more technologies integrated on QUALCOMM’s Mobile Station Modem(TM) (MSM(TM)) chipset solutions, including: 3D graphics, QSound’s Q3D(TM) and QXpander(R) technologies, Qtv(TM) and gpsOne(R) and/or the benefits of high-speed network capabilities such as CDMA2000(R) 1xEV-DO and WCDMA. This award is specifically designed to recognize technological innovation demonstrated by BREW applications that are not yet commercial.
