One of the top-tier handset makers in Korea, Pantech & Curitel, has successfully entered a contract to supply 10 million mobile phones to the United States, the largest volume of single contract ever recorded. P&C said on Monday that it had sealed a contract with AudioBox Communications, a leading mobile phone distributor in the United States, to supply 10 million units of CDMA phones, worth 1.6 billion dollars, by the end of next year. AudioBox will supply these handsets to major wireless communication service providers such as Verizon and Sprint.

“We could dramatically sign a contract with AudioBox to supply mobile phones in North America with our own brand based on credibility accumulated in the market for years. By supplying a variety of models of handsets to meet diversified tastes of consumers, we will raise our market share to more than 15% in North America next year,” said Song Mun-seob, CEO of Pantech & Curitel. Unlike its past deals, Pantech & Curitel agreed with AudioBox to supply all handsets with Pantech’s own brand. Continue >>
