Telstra Selects ACCESS NetFront i-mode Global Profile

ACCESS Co., Ltd., a global provider of mobile content delivery and Internet access technologies, today announced that its products will be available within the initial handsets selected by Telstra for the launch of i-mode. The profile deployment includes ACCESS’ NetFront browser, messaging client, JV-Lite(TM)2 Wireless Edition (a Sun-authorized Java client), SSL client and TCP/IP protocol stack. Handsets available for Telstra’s new i-mode service include NEC’s N410i and Panasonic’s P342i, with additional handsets to follow.

Telstra’s i-mode deployment represents the first i-mode deployment outside of Europe and Taiwan and validates the growing popularity and acceptance of the i-mode service based on NTT DoCoMo’s i-mode, a service that ACCESS helped to pioneer.

ACCESS’ extensive experience providing advanced Internet technology solutions for mobile operators throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas, including the majority of i-mode Global deployments to date, ensures that Telstra subscribers will enjoy a rich, powerful, and fun mobile Internet experience.

NetFront i-mode Global Profile integrates ACCESS Internet software technologies previously deployed for NTT DoCoMo’s i-mode service into a comprehensive solution that offers operators and their handset partners seamless i-mode Global deployments while reducing overall cost and time-to-market. All technologies comprising NetFront i-mode Global Profile were developed by ACCESS ensuring tight interoperability optimized specifically for i-mode Global and proven in over 42 million deployments of i-mode handsets in Japan and over 3.5 million i-mode Global handset deployments throughout the world.

“Telstra’s i-mode deployment is yet another example of our commitment to help operators and handset manufacturers to successfully deploy i-mode Global services throughout the world,” said Toru Arakawa, president and CEO of ACCESS. “We are very pleased to work together with Telstra and Telstra’s handset partners to bring Telstra’s customers the advanced mobile data services and benefits that i-mode Global provides.”
