NTT DoCoMo Launches Bytemobile Optimization Solution in its Core Network
Bytemobile, the company dedicated to delivering pure, optimizedaccess to network operators, service providers and enterprises, today announced that NTT DoCoMo has deployed Bytemobile’s optimization solution in its core network to enable faster end- user access and more cost efficient delivery of applications such as web browsing and email. “The sheer volume of their data subscribers underscores the fact that NTT DoCoMo leads the world market with data services that offer a great end-user experience,” said Steve Livingston, executive vice president for Bytemobile. “We’re pleased that our optimization solution was selected for their network.” Bytemobile’s optimization solutions have been broadly deployed at more than 30 operators around the globe; the DoCoMo installation represents the first large commercial deployment in Japan.
The NTT DoCoMo deployment comprises a client-server solution with Bytemobile OSNs situated in the network data path and remote clients deployed to laptops, desktops and NTT DoCoMo’s branded PDA called the Sigmarion III. The Bytemobile solution dynamically optimizes the delivery of IP-based data on wireless networks through a process of data reduction and protocol acceleration. Practically, this means that NTT DoCoMo customers can experience extremely fast access speeds and choose their level of optimization based on personal preference. Furthermore, NTT DoCoMo can optimize the use of available spectrum to maximize the return on investment from its network and radio technologies, which delivers significant capital and operational cost savings.
“The Bytemobile optimization platform enables carriers to optimize IP- based data such as web pages, file downloads and email traffic for faster and better overall end-user experience,” said Livingston. “Practically, the network is delivering a three times reduction in data volumes and transmission times which keeps DoCoMo out in front from a competitive standpoint.”
