Vodafone KK Announces New CEO

Vodafone Holdings KK and Vodafone KK jointly announce that their respective boards of directors today appointed Dr. J. Brian Clark as President and Chief Executive Officer and Representative Executive Officer of the two companies, effective immediately. Dr. Clark will assume the responsibilities of Mr. Darryl E. Green, who has resigned as Director, President and Chief Executive Officer and Representative Executive Officer of the two companies for personal reasons.

Today’s Vodafone press release also stated that Dr. Clark will assume Darryl Green’s responsibilities until a permanent replacement is found; Dr. Clark will retain his current role as Chairman of the Boards of Directors of the two companies. Mr. David Jones, Representative Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer, will report directly to Dr. Clark and continue to have full responsibility for the operations of Vodafone KK.

The company also said that a search for a permanent replacement for Mr. Green is now underway.

Dr. Clark, who is Chief Executive, Vodafone Asia Pacific Region, and a director of both Vodafone Holdings KK and Vodafone KK, stated:

“Mr. Green’s resignation was accepted with gratitude for his loyal service to the company since he became president of J-Phone Co., Ltd. in 2001. We wish him every success in the future.”

Dr. Clark also stated that “The Japanese market is vitally important to Vodafone worldwide. A search for a permanent replacement for Mr. Green is now underway and we are confident we will find the right person to succeed him and lead the company forward.”
