i-Pot by Zojirushi Connecting Families

While it’s easy to get caught-up in the daily 3G related news, and fancy new phones, this is an eloquent solution to solve real world challenges for regular people. The i-Pot by Zojirushi, hot-water kettle for making tea, has embedded sim module that will send message to preset family email address everyday with trigger based on the usage. Basically, no text received from the parents i-Pot today = potentially bad sign.

Launched in March 2001, and targeting an obvious market segment, imagine the offering will continue to grow along with the aging society in Japan – and beyond – in the future. The background details and service platform both in Japanese.
